Shiloh Farms - Organic Unprocessed Coarse Wheat Bran - 32 Ounce

I’ve actually settled on the fine milled version of this product and it’s excellent. Mild/neutral flavor. I use this to make a keto/low-carb hot cereal. I mix it with some ground flaxseed and some hemp seed, a small amount of cream of wheat, pinch of salt. Sometimes I add some cinnamon, or some maple flavoring or a small amount of dried fruit. Sometimes add some sweetener. Sometimes make it savory with some bacon bits, green onions, a fried egg or two on top. Am thinking up recipes to reduce the carbs in hot side dishes as well. Low carb cheddar “grits” would work. If you are new to such a product, I would recommend starting out with a small amount and then increasing it to your desired serving size. If you don’t, you may find yourself very uncomfortable ha ha I have re-purchased this multiple times and will continue to do so as long as the quality remains the same.

Giant bag, good quality. Normally I only add 1 tbsp of wheat bran to my bread machine bread. You might want to make some bran muffins because this bag is huge! Vegan Bran Muffins 1 c. wheat bran 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 c raisins (1/2 c chocolate chips, option) 1/4 c chopped walnuts 1 Tbsp flax or chia seeds, ground 3 Tbsp water 2 Tbsp olive oil 1/2 c molasses 3/4 c soy milk 1/2 c applesauce Mix 1st 4 ingredients in a bowl. Then add nuts & rasins to dry mix. In 2nd bowl, mix ground flax seeds w/ water. Then add all the other wet ingredients & mix. Then add wet to dry & mix only briefly. Put in greased muffin tins at 400 F for 15 min. Serve w/ homemade margarine & maple syrup

Love this product. Have used 1-2 tablespoons daily to add fiber in my diet and it works like a charm. Very inexpensive.

I have tried a few different offerings and am glad Shiloh Farms really is a coarse grind. I use this for the mealworms I purchase for the birds. It works as both a nesting material and food source, but not if the grind is described as coarse and yet arrives in a fine grind. I've been happy with the shipment as well, as the plastic bag is safely protected in a box, direct from seller.
