Product Description Pulling John is the universal story of a champion's glory in an unsung sport, who after 25 years of success is now burdened with the inevitable transformation of aging. John Brzenk, the legendary armwrestler, who works as an airline mechanic by day must decide whether to leave the sport he was raised on or wait to be defeated. Pulling John takes a journey to the far corners of the world, where men define themselves by trying to beat him. Voevoda from Russia, Bagent from West Virginia and Yoshi from Tokyo are the colorful characters who have been raised on the legend of John Brzenk. In a philosophical and thrilling ride through human nature, told via the offbeat sport of Armwrestling, Pulling John culminates at the Zloty Tur Championship in Warsaw, where Bagent and Voevoda have the chance of their life, to dethrone the conflicted Brzenk. stronnnnnngggggg
being a puller myself years ago i was very happy to stumble onto this docu-movie. it does not dissapoint. john brzenk IS arm wrestling. from the time i first saw him as a kid on wide world of sports to the now still amazing 50 year old puller, he has maintained class and dignity in a sport that sometimes falls short of that. john was simply unbeatable in his own weight class and found that his fame would grow by taking on the champion heavyweights. often outweighed by 75 to 100 lbs john just kept bringing them down, one by one. filmed by a pair of russians i had a good idea of the probable ending, but there are no losers in this film. pound for pound the greatest right arm ever in the entire world.

Excellent video, nothing like it, inspiring
I simply don't understand how any one person can dominate a sport for 25 years, and who by the looks never did roids. I have always suspected that strength is not always judged by the size as proved by john. I still can't comprehend it, but I have seen bulky weightlifters who have lost to much smaller muscled guys. I think this is why large weight lifter rarely compete in arm wrestling comp. because they don't want there actual strength and explosive power compared. They are selling the shell and not the strength. The best comparison is dog sledding in Alaska, John has wolf muscles, the ones that can pull a sled for thousands of miles! (Reference Jack London)

Good information
I like this DVD, although I do wish it would have shown more matches. However, there is some good information on technique and some information on training as well, so I wrote down some notes as I viewed this DVD. I wish there were more DVD's on Armwrestling. This is the only one I could find on Amazon.

I love this documentary and it falls in with the great sports stories ever captured. Some of the players here are also in the show Game of Arms. It covers a specific period of time following John Brzenk, but also touches on surrounding history.

Inspiring
Just an amazing yet simple and unambitious documentary. No bells and whistles yet it captivates and inspires.
